Even if you simply get proficient, then do a one hour patrol shift over the holidays, it all helps. 🙌 Come and experience what club life is really about: 🌊 Enjoy the beach and have a swim ☀️ Get some fresh air and sunshine 🤝 Enjoy the company of old friends and make some new ones 💙 Discover just how relaxed our club members are — and how relaxed you feel when you head home. 🌊 🤝IRB Training | Stronger Together 🤝🌊 What a fantastic weekend of IRB training in collaboration with Coledale SLSC! 🚤 We kicked off our IRBD and IRBC proficiency and education program over the weekend, with the beautiful weather and conditions providing the perfect opportunity to get back on the water. Across a day of continuous launches, landings and patient rescues, drivers and crew from both clubs swapped roles and worked with different teams, building valuable experience and confidence working together. A huge thank you to Zac from SWSLSC and Chubby from Coledale for running the Friday evening theory session and Saturday practical training. Your time and experience are helping make both clubs stronger. 👏 With ages ranging from 16 to 57, it was great to see members of all ages and genders getting involved, upskilling and becoming comfortable in the boat as the season starts. Most importantly, we had a heap of fun along the way! 🌊☀️ This program will now be rolled out across both clubs as part of our early-season calendar, continuing to build a strong working relationship between our northern corridor clubs. ✨Congratulations and good luck✨ Our club would like to say a massive THANK YOU and to wish our three nominees for the Illawarra Surf Lifesaving Awards of Excellence the best of luck for tonight. Kat Watson is up for Patrol Captain of the Year. Kat heads our all female patrol, leads with kindness and empathy, and has shown exceptional dedication to her role as Patrol Captain. Zac Lopresti is up for the Keith Caldwell Volunteer of the Year. Zac has been instrumental in driving our IRB program, not only within our club, but across the wider SLS community of the norther Illawarra suburbs, helping to make all our beaches just that bit safer. Pete Rafferty is up for Community Engagement of the Year. Pete tirelessly strives to use surf and swim skills as tools to foster inclusivity and diversity within not only the SLS community, but across the Illawarra. This is beautifully reflected in his work with Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra to host a surf skills nippers day. 🌟Congratulations🌟 It’s been a month since the flags came down for the winter, so it was great to reconnect and celebrate our outstanding club members from the 25/26 season. 1. Our amazing Patrol Captains - Ben, Zac, Pete, Tommy, Bindi, Kat and Henry and Ian as Club Captain - thank you for your leadership in keeping our beach safe this summer. 2. Dual club people of the year - Kat Watson and Zac Lopresti 3. Patroller of the year - Gary Jordan 4. Two of our four new Bronze Medallion’s - we look forward to you joining us on patrol next year! 5. 🥳Congratulations to our latest SRCs!🥳 We’re stoked to see two new Surf Rescue Certificates (SRCs) through this summer. Big congratulations to the boys for their dedication to learning the foundations of what it means to be a surf life saver. For late stage nippers (U14s), SCR is the entry level award (min age 13) leading to Bronze Medallion (min age 15) and is a great way to continue building confidence in the surf and gain vital life saving skills. SCRs learn CPR and are trained in the operations associated with being a patrolling member, including teamwork, communications, surf awareness and open water rescues. These are skills gained for life that are just as important beyond the beach, as they are in a surf life saving context. Not only have they gained skills that could save a life, but also a valuable addition to their resume representing their character in work ethic and community mindedness, their ability to test themselves with new skills, and importantly, listen and learn from experienced people. Shout out to Bindi, Tommy and Gary who gave up time outside of their own patrol days to help with training. A huge thankyou to Kurrawa SLSC for the very generous and greatly appreciated donation of a Thundercat Gen II hull The boat had a good life at Kurrawa, racing and light patrol and now put out to pasture at our club for a gentler life at SWSLSC. We have rebadged and painted the club's logo on the boat as a tribute and thanks. We have swapped out as the number one boat for the moment for members to get used to the different hull to what we have had, and already put to good use on patrol and a SRC kids introduction to the IRB program we are trying to grow by getting them on the water If any kids or adults local or outside area looking at being part of an inclusive, welcoming SLSC at SW and the richly rewarding movement and enjoy being on the water please get in touch We are planning and will be running education and training in the offseason for IRBC and IRBD proficiencies Your generosity Kurrawa will make a good impact at our club with now 2 hulls rescue ready. A great example why grass roots SLS is so rewarding and why we stay involved - clubs helping clubs and the positivity of members across the country

Thanks so much to all the kids that challenged themselves today, plenty of smiles on all nippers and we ran longer than usual with the water temp unreal and kids smashing it. To all the water safety and age managers Thank you so much for your involvement ,you are helping make this program grow and we see that every week with more and more nippers testing themselves and coming out of the water knowing they can do it One more nippers to go on the 22nd March -10 am with nipper preso straight after. Love being part of SWSLSC

From our young Nippers gaining skills and confidence in the water, to our SRC teens building their leadership capacity, our patrolling members of all ages leading by example, and the nippers mums and non-patrolling members making sure everything runs smoothly, we are proud and grateful to have you as part of our club and community. This year’s theme is ‘Balance the Scales’. What an afternoon! The annual patrol relay was just over a week ago and it was fantastic to see all members of the SWSLSC community come together for an afternoon of fun. A massive congratulations to our friendly rivals from around the headland at Coledale who claimed the mighty marlin trophy. We hope you will be back next year to defend your title!
